Academics

Sri KDU International School Kota Damansara teaches British Curriculum, Cambridge (Secondary), Cambridge IGCSE for students aged 3 to 16.

Curriculum

Sri KDU International School Kota Damansara offers a British-based curriculum spanning from Early Years to Secondary School. The Early Years Foundation Stage (FS1 & FS2) focuses on play-based learning to develop literacy and numeracy skills. Primary education (Key Stages 1 & 2) builds on this foundation with a broad curriculum. Secondary education encompasses Key Stages 3 & 4, culminating in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, which are internationally recognized qualifications for students aged 14 to 16. The school also offers an English Language Learning Academy to support students for whom English is an additional language.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school emphasizes the importance of social and emotional learning across all age groups. In the Early Years, activities are designed to help children develop social skills and emotional understanding. Circle time sessions provide a platform for students to express their feelings and build relationships. For older students, a dedicated School Counsellor offers individual and group counselling sessions, as well as workshops on mental health, resilience, and coping strategies. The counsellor works closely with teachers and parents to address students' emotional and social needs, ensuring a supportive environment for all learners.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school supports students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, attention-related challenges, and social-emotional issues. The school is not a specialist SEN institution but offers individualized support through IEPs and differentiated instruction. The Inclusion Team, in collaboration with classroom teachers, monitors student progress and adjusts support strategies as needed. Parents are actively involved in the planning and review process to ensure that their child's needs are met effectively.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Sri KDU International School Kota Damansara offers English Language Learning (ELL) support for students who require assistance with English proficiency. The program includes both "pull-out" and "push-in" classes, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and language development across listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills. An ELL teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to support students' academic progress. Services are provided with parental consent and may incur additional charges.

Mental Wellbeing

The school employs a full-time, qualified School Counsellor who supports students' mental health and overall well-being. The counsellor offers individual and group counselling sessions, facilitates workshops on mental health, resilience, and coping strategies, and collaborates with staff and parents to address students' emotional and social needs. The counsellor also provides support during crises and refers students to external services when necessary.

Safeguarding

Sri KDU has a comprehensive Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy as part of the wider XCL Education Malaysia framework. Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are appointed at the school and have completed Sri KDU-specific Level 3 training, with regular updates provided throughout the year. The school follows safer recruitment practices and carries out periodic audits to ensure compliance with safeguarding standards. All concerns must be reported promptly, within a culture that places the child’s voice, safety, and wellbeing at the centre.
