The Regent School Abuja comprises The Regent Primary School (ages 2–11) and The Regent Secondary School (ages 11–16), located in Mabushi District, Abuja. It is a British-curriculum school offering both day and boarding options, with EYFS, a British Curriculum and Cambridge IGCSE. In Years 7–8 the school follows an adapted National Curriculum for England and Wales, Year 9 uses Cambridge Checkpoint, and Years 10–11 deliver Cambridge IGCSEs in eight or nine subjects; the Nigerian curriculum is not offered. The community spans 31+ nationalities, providing an international atmosphere while maintaining Nigerian context in campus life. The campus includes a Digital Smart Hub and a Microsoft IT Academy to support modern learning. Outdoor facilities feature a natural grass football field and a multipurpose court. After-school activities are mandatory, and the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is available. The Regent Secondary School is modeled on the National Curriculum for England and Wales. The curriculum provides a broad range of subjects and develops a variety of important practical and academic skills. In Year 9, students sit Cambridge International Examinations CheckPoint in English, Mathematics and Science as a progress benchmark. Years 7 to 9 study English, Mathematics, Science, French, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Drama, PSHE and Nigerian Studies. At the end of Year 11 students sit Cambridge International Examinations IGCSEs in eight or nine subjects, which could include: English Language, English Literature, Drama, Mathematics, Coordinated Science, French, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, ICT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Environmental Management, Geography, Accounting, Economics and Business Studies. The school does not offer the Nigerian curriculum or Nigerian examinations.
Highlights of the 2024/2025 IGCSE Examination show 100% A–C in Additional Mathematics, Art and Design, Biology, Computer Science, Drama, Geography, Global Perspectives, Music, Physics and Sociology. 98% of all grades were A–C. 98% of the students achieved A–C grades in at least 5 subjects. 96% achieved 5 or more A–C grades, inclusive of English and Mathematics.

The Regent Secondary School emphasizes that each student should feel valued and listened to to thrive and mature. A carefully integrated pastoral care system supports welfare with Form Tutors responsible for daily contact and a four-house structure led by House Leaders. The pastoral team includes a Vice Principal Pastoral who oversees welfare during the school day. The school fosters a respectful atmosphere, with a defined Student Code of Conduct and a Rewards and Sanctions Policy; corporal punishment is not used. Boarders have a dedicated welfare team after hours and at weekends. Parents receive three termly reports with pastoral and academic feedback and there are Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss well-being and development.
The Regent Primary School has qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers and a SENCO who oversees learning support. Abiola Kudumi is the SENCO/Head of Learning Support. The Curriculum Policy notes that needs of all pupils include those who require support with their learning and those with English as an Additional Language. The school welcomes pupils with special needs. Learning support is integrated into the curriculum to address diverse needs.
The Regent Primary School offers a programme of English as an additional language for all ability levels. It provides support for other mother tongue languages including French, German and Mandarin. English is taught to all pupils, with provisions for those who need additional language support. English as a Second Language is an option for non-native English speakers if necessary. Differentiated teaching supports language development within the curriculum.
The Regent Secondary School emphasizes student welfare through its Tutor Programme and PSHE within the curriculum. Safeguarding is integral to life at The Regent Secondary School and is everyone's responsibility. The Safeguarding Team includes Senior Designated Safeguarding Leads headed by the Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care and an Assistant Vice Principal, with a Deputy DSL. The team ensures best practice in all aspects of Child Protection and Pupil Welfare and provides staff INSET and liaison with external agencies when required. A Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is published and available to the school community.
1. Application forms cost N100,000 and can be purchased from The Regent Secondary School Office or completed online. The form is valid only for parents whose child meets the age requirement. The school reserves the right to decline admission if the child does not meet all the requirements for admission.
2. Age requirements must be met by 31 August of the entry year: Year 7 – 11 years, Year 8 – 12 years, Year 9 – 13 years, Year 10 – 14 years. Children who do not meet the age entry requirements will not be permitted to sit the entrance examination. The school will not normally admit into Year 11 except in special circumstances and at the Principal's discretion.
3. Completing the application form: Complete the application form fully and correctly. All required supporting documents must be uploaded. The form should be completed by the parent or guardian and signed; the child should not sign. Payment of the application fee confirms the form and the Admissions Office will advise you of the dates available to sit the Entrance test.
4. Entrance assessment: All applicants will be required to sit the Entrance Test, which lasts 3.5 hours. English and Mathematics are tested, and there is a computer-based test. Entrance tests are scheduled for January and March in Abuja, with additional testing sessions offered if space is available. Candidates should aim to perform at 65% or above to be considered for admission, and the School reserves the right not to admit a child even if they pass the entrance tests.
5. Admission processing period: The academic year starts in September and ends in July, so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Admission processing occurs after all necessary documents are received. Acceptance is indicated by payment of a non-refundable Capital Developmental fee. If a place is not secured within the designated period, the space may be offered to other candidates.
6. Application requirements / Supporting documents: Passport photograph, birth certificate, bio-data page of international passport, and the last school academic report (Term 1, 2024-2025). A testimonial/character reference from the primary school and the Primary School Leaving Certificate are also required. If transferring from another secondary school, attach the Transfer Certificate and a reference from the previous Principal. The completed application form should be submitted to the Administrative Office.
