Introduction
La Découverte School’s Mies campus is a bilingual French-English primary school for children aged 3 to 12. The campus opened in 2017 and is located at Chemin du Triangle 9 in Mies, Vaud. The school follows the Plan d’Études Romand within an active pedagogy model, where children learn through projects, exploration, cooperation and formative assessment rather than marks. French and English are used in immersion from age 3, with each class supported by French-speaking and English-speaking teachers. The Mies campus has several distinctive practices, including a weekly children’s council, philosophy sessions, daily outdoor learning and open learning spaces. Theatre is introduced from age 7. After-school “Extras” include art, football, chess, swimming and other activities. The school also offers supervised care after class until 18:00 and meals prepared on campus with a focus on balanced menus and sustainability.
