Boarding / Accommodation

- ACG Strathallan does not operate on‑site boarding houses; international accommodation is arranged through homestay providers. Homestay costs are charged separately to tuition and are typically in the range of approximately NZD 305–325 per week for a Regular Homestay and approximately NZD 340–360 per week for a Homestay Plus option (rates vary by location and season).

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Families may choose to pay tuition as a single annual (lump‑sum) payment, in three instalments, or in nine monthly instalments; the school issues invoices showing the chosen payment plan.
- Published payment timing examples used in prior fee schedules require a full lump sum by mid‑January for the discounted annual payment, or three instalments with due dates in mid‑January, mid‑April and mid‑July for the three‑instalment plan. Nine‑instalment plans are structured as monthly payments. All tuition is payable in advance or by the invoiced instalment schedule.
- Credit card payments are accepted but are subject to a surcharge; international fee schedules show a 2% credit‑card surcharge and provide bank transfer details for electronic payment. Payment instructions and the bank account details are provided with the school's invoice/request for payment.

Other costs and commonly billed extras

- Uniform, school stationery, camps, subject / examination charges and some co‑curricular activities are additional to tuition and are billed as required.
- Homestay placement fee and weekly homestay retainer fees apply to international students living in homestay accommodation; airport transfer, change‑of‑homestay and similar service fees may also apply. Sample items include accommodation placement fee and airport transfer charges.

Refunds and withdrawal notice

- All tuition fees are payable in advance. No refunds will be made except at the discretion of the school's Board of Directors or as set out in the school's published policies.
- A minimum of one term's written notice of cancellation or withdrawal is required; failure to provide the required notice may result in fees being charged for the notice period.
- For international students who pay an annual tuition fee in advance and later obtain New Zealand permanent residency, a refund of the difference in fees may be applied where evidence is provided to the Registrar before the Ministry of Education return deadline (as specified in international enrolment policy).

Fee payment options

- Bank transfer (international telegraphic transfers accepted to the school's bank account in New Zealand) is a standard payment method; bank account and SWIFT details are provided with the offer/invoice.
- Credit card payments are accepted where permitted, subject to a surcharge (example: 2% on credit‑card payments noted for ACG Schools).

Notes on administration of fees

- The one‑off acceptance/registration and application fees listed above are charged at application and at confirmation of place respectively and are non‑refundable unless the school's policies state otherwise.

Uniform Requirement

Uniform is worn by students in Years 1–12; Year 13 may wear mufti within a dress code. Uniforms can be ordered online from NZ Uniforms.

Food Options

Cafeteria food is available on site and includes options for all dietary requirements and preferences. Lunch and snacks are available at interval and lunchtime, and ordering and payment are simple.

House System

All students belong to a house and a house-based tutor group. Tutor groups are structured so Years 7–8 are together and Years 9–13 are together, enabling age-appropriate wellbeing content and leadership development. Siblings are allocated the same tutor group.

Cambridge International programmes form the core curriculum from Primary through College, with some inspiration from the New Zealand NCEA from Primary level onwards. Safeguarding

Safeguarding is embedded in school life through core values that underpin behaviour, and a pastoral structure with Deans responsible for welfare, academic progress and personal development. International students have a dedicated dean; the school aims to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

Admissions

Applications are submitted online via the admissions pages. Mid-year starts are welcome and accepted at any time, but spaces are limited. After the application is received, families are invited to an interview with the Principal to discuss needs and fit. An Offer Letter is issued after assessing the application; a level of English fluency is required to understand classroom instruction, with ESOL support available for students whose first language is not English. The result of the application is notified within seven days of the interview. If a place is offered, acceptance must be confirmed in writing and the acceptance fee paid.

Scholarships

ACG Strathallan provides scholarships to new students in Years 7 to 13 (11 to 18 years old) in Academic, Sports and Performing Arts (Music and Drama). Scholarships cover part of tuition fees and are awarded for ability, work ethic and performance. 2027 Scholarship Application Dates: Closing Date Thursday 2 April 2026; Interviews for 2027 in Term 1 and Term 2 2026. Scholarships have a maximum value of up to 20% of tuition fees. An online admissions application must accompany scholarship applications, and a full student CV is required. Performing Arts scholarships require a link to a 3–5 minute video; applicants should demonstrate leadership, commitment and communication and be active in the co-curricular life of the school; scholarships are subject to annual review and may be withdrawn for unsatisfactory performance. The ACG Founders Scholarship honours the founders of ACG; since 2018, one scholarship has been awarded annually to a current student planning to start a university course the following year, and it may be held with other awards. Sibling Scholarships apply to large families; if four children attend simultaneously, the youngest may receive a full tuition scholarship; a scholarship of 25% of total fees may be awarded to families with five or more children. Boarding Arrangements

Boarding is on site for Year 9 boarders. In their first two years, boarders stay in Ross House, mostly in rooms of two or three beds. Senior boarders live in Balmacewan House in single rooms. The boarding houses have their own common rooms and are staffed by a full-time Director of Boarding, an Assistant Manager, a Matron and housemasters.

Uniform Requirement

Formal uniform days occur on Wednesdays for assembly and chapel; in 2026 Mondays are also formal uniform days. NZ Uniforms is the official uniform provider; ties are available at the school office and sports uniforms are supplied by Otago Sports Depot.

Food Options

The canteen provides hot and cold meals with daily specials. Lunch orders can be placed and picked up from a separate line at lunchtime. Students may pay by cash or EFTPOS.

Admissions

1. Decide whether to enrol as a Day Boy or as a Boarder. The College provides separate enrolment pathways for Day Boy and Boarding, with information published on the Enrolments pages. Boarding enrolments note an intake target of 25 Year 9 boarders. The enrolment path you choose determines the next steps you will follow.
2. For boarding applicants, arrange a Tour and a Talk with the Principal and the Director of Boarding before June. This visit provides an opportunity to view the College and boarding facilities and to ask questions. After the Tour and Talk, families move to the next step in the enrolment process.
3. After meeting with the Principal and the Director of Boarding, complete the enrolment form. The enrolment form is submitted along with any accompanying documents as part of the application. If you have questions about the process, consult the contact listed for boarding enrolments.

5. If applications exceed places, the College uses a ballot to determine final places. The enrolment process notes that preference may be given to pupils whose parents have a family, religious or philosophic sympathy with the College's special character. The Board of Proprietors identifies preference candidates and submits them to the Board of Trustees, who implement a Ministry approved enrolment scheme; most applicants are placed by ballot.
6. Note important dates and events. Boarding Open Day is on May 8, 2026, and boarding applications for 2027 close at 5:00 pm on June 14, 2026. The general enrolment process for Day Boys follows the same framework, and deadlines apply as published on the Application for Enrolment page. Waitlist

When enrolment places are limited, there is a waitlist/ballot process. If more applications are received than places, a ballot determines final placements. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school has a Counselling Department that provides a private and confidential service for students at all year levels. Students may self-refer, or be referred by teachers, deans, senior management, or parents. The aim is to support students to reach their full potential in education and beyond and to grow into socially aware, resilient individuals who can manage life's challenges with confidence. The Counselling Department supports students with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationships, anger, eating concerns, and substance use, and can refer to external agencies for acute needs. Counselling uses a pluralistic approach with modalities including Narrative Therapy, Sand Tray, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Positive Psychology, tailored to each student. All counsellors are members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and follow professional standards.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Learning Centre provides an inclusive, mainstream environment for students with additional learning needs, to support learning access to the New Zealand Curriculum and IB at a level appropriate to each student's abilities. The Centre operates with a whole-school, inclusive and collaborative approach, working with senior leadership, Deans, subject teachers, Learning Assistants, external agencies, and families/whānau. It is managed by the Head of Learning Support (SENCO) with a team of specialist teachers, Learning Assistants, and administrative staff, and provides a safe, nurturing space for learning. Each student's strengths and needs are identified through testing, and support includes RTLB, Group Special Education, educational psychologists and therapists, with in-class support from Learning Assistants (including bilingual ones). Targeted support is offered through individualized learning plans; SAC coordination; and preparation for SAC; the Centre also runs the REACH literacy/numeracy program and offers before school and lunchtime tutoring. English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school has an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Department that offers ten courses aligned with both the English learning area of the New Zealand Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate. Safeguarding

The school has a Child Protection Policy that outlines the board's commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children in our care. All staff, contractors, and volunteers are expected to be familiar with the policy, its procedures and protocols, and to report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies, including social workers or the local police. The policy states the board's obligation to provide a safe environment free from physical, verbal or sexual abuse and to support investigations with NZ Police and Child Youth & Family when required. The principal must develop procedures to meet child safety requirements, ensure staff safety checks, and make the policy available; it emphasises confidentiality and information sharing guidelines and includes staff induction on child protection. The policy is designed to ensure the safety and rights of every child are paramount.

1. If accepted, Rangitoto College issues a Conditional Offer of Place and an invoice. Agents are sent two invoices: a net invoice that includes commission and a tax invoice that does not.

2. Fees can be paid online or at the bank; there is information about payment on the invoice and links to online payment methods on the International Fees page.

3. After the fees have been paid, the International office sends the Receipt and Confirmed Offer of Place.

4. The Confirmed Offer of Place is used to apply for a Student Visa through Immigration New Zealand.

Scholarships

The Scholarship Programme is part of the Curriculum: Scholarship Programme and challenges and inspires students to reach their full potential. Dedicated classes are built into the timetable to extend abilities and prepare students to excel in NZQA Scholarship exams and beyond. A scholarship room in the library provides a dedicated space for scholars to work individually or with peers.
