Curriculum

The programs applied are those of the French National Education (Eduscol). They are organized into cycles: Cycle 1—PS, MS, GS (GS only at EPFG); Cycle 2—CP, CE1, CE2; Cycle 3—CM1, CM2 and 6e (only CM1 and CM2 at EPFG). The objective is for all students to master a common core of competencies and knowledge by the end of compulsory schooling; 25 hours per week are taught annually, with additional language hours built in. The French language is the language of instruction for most teaching; English starts in GS with 30 minutes per week, 45 minutes per week in CP, 1 hour per week for CE1 and CE2, 1 hour 30 minutes per week for CM1, and 3 hours per week for CM2, including 1 hour of a subject taught in English. Higher Education Progression

The committee will decide on your admission request based on available places and the following priorities, in this order: 1) a sibling in the school; 2) a student from the French system or AEFE; 3) French nationality; 4) date of pre-registration. Documents to be provided electronically between January 5 and January 31, 2026 include: a) a copy of the family booklet or a birth certificate showing parentage; b) a child's identity document (ID card or passport) for each nationality declared at registration; c) proof of domicile in the canton of Geneva (less than 3 months) such as a water, electricity, or internet bill or a residence certificate; d) a certificate of schooling from the child's current class and school. Fill the admission form and send it by post or by email. The dossier fee remains CHF 150 per child. Upon receipt of the complete dossier, it is transmitted to the admissions commission which will contact you to schedule the pedagogical interview. 03 Pedagogical interview. Parents are met, with their child, by the lead teacher or tutor. If there is agreement, the student undertakes a trial placement of one to two weeks in their future class (not for nurseries). The trial placement fee is CHF 250. After the placement, the teacher contacts the family to confirm whether the pedagogical team is ready to continue the admissions process and that the family remains interested. 04 Administrative interview. If the admissions process continues, the secretariat will contact you for an administrative interview.

Scholarships

An open-to-all policy applies and families in need can apply for a reduction of tuition by submitting a file to the Commission des engagements financiers (CEF). The CEF evaluates situations on a case-by-case basis and the process is confidential. After studying the file, an interview with two CEF members is held to agree on an adjusted tuition amount proportional to the family's income. A starting point for discussion is that tuition representing 14% of the family's gross income is considered a fair baseline.

Additional learning support

Learning support is provided under the Inclusion Policy. Form teachers and tutors review each student's social, emotional and academic needs; if a specific learning issue is suspected, the appropriate experts are consulted, an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is created and accommodations are put in place. IIL bus service covers 133 zones across the Canton of Geneva, neighbouring France and part of Vaud with around 20 bus lines and approximately 300 students using the service daily. Morning pick-up times vary to ensure arrival at school between 7:45 and 8:10 am. Afternoon buses depart at 4:35 pm (except on Wednesdays 12:45).

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Invoicing schedule for yearly tuition fees: 1st term invoice issued by the end of September; 2nd term invoice issued by the end of December; 3rd term invoice issued by the end of March. A complementary 3rd‑term activities invoice may be issued in June if required.
- Yearly tuition is billed term‑by‑term and must be paid according to the deadline shown on each invoice. If the payment deadline on an invoice is not met, the School may refuse the student access to classes or services until the situation is resolved and reminder fees will be applied.
- For students joining during the year: the enrolment fee and tuition for the full current term are due; tuition for remaining terms is due. If arrival occurs during the second half of a term, only 50% of the tuition for the current term is due. In case of departure or dismissal during a term, tuition and options fees for the interrupted term remain payable in full.

Boarding fees

- Boarding is not part of the school's day‑to‑day provision; IIL operates as a day school (no boarding fees apply).

Other costs and fees (charged in addition to tuition)

- Books and a flat rate for digital resources are billed separately.
- School supplies: the School provides some consumables for Primary students (flat rate invoiced); other supplies must be purchased by guardians as per the supplied lists.
- Specific options and subject supplements (examples): Science in English (charges vary by year — e.g. CHF 3,300 yearly for 6e; CHF 4,100 yearly for 5e/4e), History & Geography in English (flat CHF 400), Creative options and materials for art (fees listed per option).
- Extracurricular activities (ECAs) and after‑school care are charged separately; ECAs are billed in two instalments (first instalment included in the 2nd term invoice, second instalment in the 3rd term invoice).
- Pedagogical outings and overnight trips, certain examinations (national and international exam enrolment fees), language exam fees (Trinity, YLE, IELTS, DELF, etc.), administrative formalities for external institution applications (CHF 200–CHF 400 depending on number of institutions), translation of reports, IT repairs, replacement ID badge (CHF 20) and other incidentals are all charged extra as specified.
- School meal tariffs are charged per term (examples: 1 day/week yearly CHF 650; 5 days/week yearly CHF 2,990); one‑off meals are CHF 21 per meal. Transport (school bus) is an additional service with annual rates; an advance payment of CHF 1,000 is included on the first‑term invoice for bus service and the full annual fee (after deduction) is invoiced in the second term. Sibling discounts and multi‑child discounts apply as specified.

Refund and cancellation rules (fees and refunds)

- The enrolment fee (CHF 1,000) is non‑refundable.
- The CHF 2,000 advance payment on initial enrolment is not reimbursed if enrolment is cancelled before 15 June. If enrolment is cancelled after 15 June but before the first day of the school year, 20% of the yearly tuition fee is due; the CHF 2,000 advance payment is deducted from that amount.
- The re‑enrolment fee (CHF 900) is an advance on tuition and is not reimbursed after the re‑enrolment process; if re‑enrolment is cancelled after 15 June but before the first day of the school year, 20% of the yearly tuition is due and the CHF 900 is deducted from that amount.
- No general reduction in tuition or options fees is made for extended absences; in the event of departure or dismissal during a term, tuition for the interrupted term remains due in full.
- School meal fees: no general reduction for absence; a 50% reduction may be granted for school meals if a child is absent for a month or more on medical grounds.
- Extracurricular activities: no refunds for absence; for ECAs, specific billing and refund rules apply and ECAs are billed across specific instalments. Transport: annual enrolment is for the full academic year and, in general, cancellations are not reimbursed (50% may be due in specified cancellation cases).

Fee payment options and restrictions

- Invoices are issued electronically according to the invoicing schedule and must be paid by the deadline shown on each invoice; reminder fees apply for late payment and access to services may be suspended for unpaid invoices. Payment restrictions apply for payments originating from countries on official sanctions lists.
- Bank transfer is specified as an accepted payment method for IIL's distance‑learning programme invoices (bank transfer within ten days of invoice). The campus retail/shop accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro) for shop purchases (uniforms and sportswear). Guardians commonly pay school invoices by bank transfer; card acceptance for large tuition invoices is handled case‑by‑case by school administration.

Uniform Requirement

The uniform is worn by all students from kindergarten through elementary; there are everyday wear and sport variants for girls and boys. For the secondary, there is a dress code defining attire expectations. The IIL Shop sells the approved uniform items, including sweaters, polos, skirts, dresses, shorts, trousers, sportswear and caps, with on-site or online purchasing options.

Food Options

Catering at IIL provides a varied, balanced and local meals; the service provider prepares healthy meals in accordance with hygiene rules. IIL's school catering has obtained the Fourchette Verte label and menus always include Genève Région – Terre Avenir products. Seasonal food discoveries and themed meals are offered in the cafeteria throughout the year.

Governance and Ownership

The school is a private school governed by a non-profit association. It was founded in 1903 by the Congregation of the Sisters of St.-Joseph as Collège Marie-Thérèse.

Curriculum

Institut International de Lancy educates students from age 3 to 19 across Early Years, Primary and Secondary. Early Years and Primary offer British Bilingual Curriculum, French Bilingual Curriculum, or Bilingual French/English Curriculum. Secondary offers English Curriculum or French Curriculum. The English Secondary programme follows the British national curriculum in preparation for Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. IIL is an IB World School authorised to teach the IB Diploma Programme, and is a Cambridge IGCSE examination centre, with the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma option. The school offers official language certifications—DELF for French, Cambridge English for English, Goethe for German, Instituto Cervantes for Spanish and Confucius Institute for Chinese—and promotes a plurilingual language policy with English in the French section and French in the English section.

Exam Results

The English IB cohort achieved a 97% pass rate with an average score of 34.5, and 78% scored above the global average. IGCSE: 99.8% of Year 11 obtained the IGCSE diploma; 43% achieved an average grade of A or A; 88% achieved an average of A-C. French Baccalaureate: 100% pass rate, with three-quarters receiving honours and several earning ‘congratulations from the jury'. Diplôme National du Brevet: 97.6% pass rate, with 50% of students receiving a ‘Très Bien' distinction.

Higher Education Progression

Our university and careers guidance programme supports students from year 7 through year 13 with personalised guidance and preparation for university applications across Switzerland, France, England, the USA, Canada and beyond. Graduates enter universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, McGill, EPFL, the University of Geneva and the Lausanne Hotel School, as well as France's classes préparatoires.

Gifted and Talented

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is offered as an official IIL partner, open to students in both English and French sections from age 13.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school places health and well-being at the center of learning. KiVa anti-bullying programme underpins prevention, intervention and monitoring; students develop social and emotional skills to navigate relationships and build resilience, with ongoing integration across the curriculum and school life.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Learning support is provided through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs); accommodations in examinations are arranged when required; medical or psychological assessments are evaluated by the medical team and ILPs are updated as needed; form teachers or tutors monitor welfare, academic progress and social needs, with referrals to specialists as appropriate; safeguarding and child protection guidelines are in place and staff receive relevant training.

Mental Wellbeing

Well-being is a focus in the PSHE curriculum for Years 7-11 and in ATL/Core skills for Years 12-13; KiVa contributes to mental well-being by promoting respectful relationships and resilience; concerns can be referred to the school doctor or psychologist as needed.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding and child protection are integral; guidelines and procedures exist and are reviewed at the start of each school year; all staff receive regular child protection training, with additional training for senior management from the local education department.

Admissions

1. Admission procedure. The enrolment of a student follows a precise procedure. An enrolment form completed and signed by legal guardians must be sent to the Director, and the form must also be signed by the applicant if the applicant is over 18. By signing the enrolment form, legal guardians and the student over 18 accept the terms of enrolment; there is no entitlement to enrolment, and the School can refuse a request for enrolment without disclosing a reason. The following papers must be submitted with all applications: a recent photograph, a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the passport or identity card, an extract of the court order relative to parental authority where relevant, school reports, and an exeat issued by the last school attended. After the application has been reviewed by the Director, the legal guardians and the student over 18 will be informed of the acceptance or refusal of their child's admission.

Waitlist

The waiting list is used when the enrolment or re-enrolment procedure is not completed by the deadline set in article II.1.
