Victor Hugo Lycée Français de Sofia is a French AEFE-conventionné school in Sofia serving ages 2 to 18, under the Embassy of France. Founded in 1966, it educates about 800 pupils from maternelle to terminale, with most teaching by French staff and Bulgarian specialists where needed. It follows the French national curriculum, including the three-year nouveau lycée; students progress from 2nde to 1ère and terminale, selecting three specialty subjects in 1ère and two in terminale for the Baccalauréat. A language-focused approach integrates the host-country language for all students and promotes English and other languages in a multicultural setting. The academic life centers on the Centre for Knowledge and Culture (3C), a library and knowledge hub with databases and a librarian to support information literacy and autonomous learning. Facilities include a Furisto-run restaurant, daycare and holiday camps, and a Sports Association offering badminton, basketball and tennis (NSA venues). The school runs a multilingual web radio and a program of after-school clubs.

The high school follows the French national system with a three-year lycée (the 'nouveau lycée'). The class of 2nde leads to the terminal cycle. After 2nde, students follow a two-year program to prepare for the general baccalaureate, consisting of 1ère and terminale, organized into common teachings, specialty teachings and optional teachings to prepare for higher education. With the nouveau lycée, students choose three specialty subjects in 1ère and retain two in terminale. The three-year curriculum culminates in the Baccalauréat, with a progression through common, specialty and optional teachings.
The school reports a 100% pass rate for the Baccalauréat, with around 95% of results classified as excellent.
Most graduates continue their studies in French higher education institutions and top international universities.
