AIS delivers specialist support to meet the individual needs of our students. Learning Support Services recognises that every student learns differently and that learning programs should be flexible and tailored to individual needs. Our team provides specialist assistance in English as an Additional Language (EAL), Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities, Counselling, and Careers & Future Education. Prior to enrolment, some students are assessed to determine their need for specialised support and the extent of that support. The Support Services team collaborates with teachers and parents to provide an inclusive network that allows students to learn within the mainstream with special arrangements that focus on the growth of the individual and promote attitudes of self-worth and achievement. For students requiring teaching and support in smaller class environments, the Student Services Centre (SSC) is offered, and progress is monitored regularly in consultation with classroom teachers and coordinators.
AIS provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) support as part of Learning Support Services. EAL is one of the specialist areas offered to students to support their language development. The Support Services team includes EAL among its roles, alongside Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities, Counselling and Careers & Future Education. Prior to enrolment, some students are assessed to determine their need for specialised support and the extent of that support. The Support Services team works with teachers and parents to provide an inclusive network and to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) where needed.
AIS believes that nurturing the whole child brings a plethora of benefits and that an emotionally healthy school environment is crucial for development. The Wellbeing Program includes a Wellbeing Support Team in Primary (classroom teacher, Primary Coordinator, Counsellor) and in High School (Wellbeing Coordinator, Counsellor, Homeroom Teachers, and Child Protection Team).
