New Zealand School Jakarta (NZSJ) is an international school in Kemang, South Jakarta, serving ages 1–18 with a bespoke New Zealand Curriculum (NZC). Early Years follow Te Whāriki; Primary and Secondary use NZC with inquiry-based, holistic learning across English, the Arts, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics and Science. The school follows a July–June academic year to accommodate international and Indonesian students. Founded in 2002 (originally NZIS), NZSJ earned accreditation from the Indonesian Ministry of Education in 2019: 93% Primary, 91% Secondary. On campus, facilities include an on-site swimming pool, two large playgrounds, multi-purpose courts, a library, and upgraded Art, Science and Music rooms. After-School Activities span sport (swimming, football, basketball), archery and dance, plus STEM, robotics and coding. A Pre-University Programme in Grades 11–12 offers university pathways. To that end, the admissions process is as follows: 1. Visit, Tour, and Trial: Nothing beats coming and seeing the School for yourself and giving your child the opportunity to trial. A Discovery Chat with the Head of School, a tour of the School, and a trial for your child are offered. An extended trial is available if needed. Admission into NZSJ is by assessment and is designed to make sure that we are the right school for your child to thrive. 3. Pay Deposit: A non-refundable application fee is to be paid upon submission of the application form. 4. Registration Confirmation: Based on the assessment, the School will offer your child a place in an Offer Letter. The place is confirmed once payment of the Annual Development Levy and first tuition is made as per the Offer Letter.
NZSJ Scholarship NZSJ offers scholarships to reward exceptional performance and a passion for learning in accordance with the opportunity to realise one's full potential. Scholarships are given to deserving students based on their academic ability, leadership potential, unique abilities, or other characteristics. Candidates may hold a maximum of one of four scholarship categories: Academic Scholarship, Arts Scholarships, Sports Scholarships, and Koru Scholarships. Academic Scholarship: Exceptional new students are eligible to apply; the applicant should have attained exceptional academic results in science, maths, and English. Arts Scholarships: Applicants should demonstrate aptitude in one major of dance, visual art, or drama; a background in music should demonstrate talent on at least one instrument or achieve ABRSM grade 6 or higher; a portfolio or audition may be required to showcase artistic abilities. Sports Scholarships: Candidates should demonstrate skill in two competitive sports; applicable to exceptional new students or ongoing students participating in a sports exhibition. Koru Scholarships: Students with special talents or who have consistently achieved excellence in a particular field may also be considered for a scholarship. Eligibility Criteria: 1) Academic Scholarship — exceptional results in science, maths and English; strong commitment to academic excellence. 2) Arts Scholarship — exceptional talent and dedication in arts; portfolio or audition may be required. 3) Sport Scholarship — exceptional sportsmanship, dedication and skill; sports resume or video may be required. 4) Koru Scholarship — special talents and leadership. General Requirements: Maintain good academic standing; submit a completed scholarship application form; provide two letters of recommendation; write a personal statement (max 500 words); participate in an interview if required; agree to terms including community service. Documentation: Transcripts or academic records; art portfolios (Arts); sports resumes (Sports); proof of residence and citizenship; any additional materials specified by the scholarship committee. Application Deadline: The application deadline for the School Scholarship Programme is January 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Selection Process: The scholarship selection committee will evaluate all applications based on eligibility, documentation, and interviews. Scholarship awards are competitive and based on merit and potential.
