Curriculum

SBS International School Bangkok provides an educational program based on the Cambridge International framework for students from Early Years through to Secondary School. During the primary stages, children follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum to develop foundational literacy, numeracy, and multilingual skills in English alongside Thai or Mandarin. As students progress into the secondary phase, they prepare for formal qualifications by selecting their IGCSE subjects at age 14. In their final two years, students can choose to pursue standard A Level examinations or opt for vocational courses such as BTEC qualifications.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

SBS International School Bangkok integrates social and emotional learning directly into its wider curriculum to develop skills such as empathy, communication, and resilience. In the Primary School, students focus on foundational habits like identifying emotions and building positive peer relationships. Lower Secondary students learn self-management skills, including conflict resolution and coping mechanisms. In the Upper Secondary years, the curriculum advances to stress management, mental health literacy, and healthy decision-making. The school also promotes community service and volunteering to help students build practical empathy and an understanding of diverse global perspectives

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school provides dedicated Learning Support services for children identified with Additional Educational Needs (AEN) within a mainstream educational setting. While it does not identify as a specialist SEN institution, the school offers structured support tiers ranging from one to three weekly sessions, up to more intensive Shadow Teaching Assistance.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

SBS International School Bangkok actively supports English Language Learners through specific academic provisions. For students in Years 4 to 8 who require significant language assistance, the school provides a dedicated Intensive English Course (IEC). This program offers focused language instruction designed to accelerate English acquisition. The ultimate goal of the IEC is to equip students with the linguistic proficiency necessary to successfully and confidently transition into mainstream classrooms.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported both through the taught curriculum and through dedicated pastoral care services. All staff members are trained to act as trusted adults, ensuring students have reliable figures to lean on for support. The school provides comprehensive onsite counselling services for children requiring individual guidance. Furthermore, topics like mental health literacy, anxiety awareness, and stress management are explicitly taught during the secondary school stages.

Safeguarding

The school applies safeguarding as an umbrella term that covers physical health and safety, digital safety, and comprehensive child protection. The school's policies are strictly aligned with the Thai Child Protection Act, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and UK Department for Education guidelines such as 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. A formal Child Protection Policy is reviewed annually, and the school expects all staff, parents, and visitors to observe these commitments. Any child protection concerns are managed directly by the Head of School or the school's Designated Safeguarding Leads, which include the School Director and the Primary and Secondary Principals.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Inquiry
The admissions process begins when parents complete an online Inquiry Form to connect with the Admissions Team. Families can also choose to contact the team directly via telephone or email during standard office hours. The school staff are fluent in both English and Thai, and parents can request additional translation services if needed.

2. School Tour
Parents are encouraged to schedule a personalized campus tour to view the school environment firsthand. During this visit, families have the opportunity to meet directly with the Head of School and the Principals. The tour can be booked directly through the school's website using the designated booking link.

3. Application
To formally apply for enrollment, parents must submit an application either through the online portal or by downloading and returning a physical form via email. At this stage, families are required to pay a non-refundable Application Fee. This step ensures the student's details are officially registered for the assessment phase.

4. Assessment
Because the language of instruction is English, non-native speakers will take a generic English Proficiency Test covering reading, writing, and verbal skills to assist with appropriate placement rather than acting as a strict pass or fail measure. For secondary students, entry to the full A Level program requires a minimum of five IGCSE grades at A-C or equivalent. In some instances, the school may also conduct a Standardised Cognitive Ability test or request an interview with the academic leadership team to better understand the child's learning profile.

5. Placement
Once the assessment is complete, the school will make an admissions decision and issue a formal offer letter to successful applicants. Parents receive an invoice for the Placement Fee, which must be paid within seven days to reserve and guarantee the student's seat. Families must also pay the refundable security deposit and tuition fees within the stated time frame to finalize the enrollment.

Scholarships

SBS International School Bangkok offers a limited number of full and partial scholarships based on academic or talent-based criteria. Currently, the school recruits scholars for Secondary School entry, specifically for students entering Year 7 (11+ years) through Year 10 (14+ years). The application process requires students to submit previous school reports, a personal statement, and either evidence of academic achievement or a talent portfolio.

Waitlist

The school does not publicly disclose information regarding a waitlist or pool system.
